4-AcO-MET

4-Acetoxy-N-ethyl-N-methyltryptamine (4-AcO-MET, 4-Acetoxy-MET, Metacetin, Azomet) is a substance of the tryptamine class with psychodelic effects. 4-AcO-MET is the homologue of 4-AcO-DMT, 4-AcO-DET and its chemical structure is related to psilocin.

Chemistry

4-Acetoxy-N-methyl-N-ethyltryptamine is the N-substituted methyl homologue of 4-HO-DMT (psilocin) and consists of an indole alkaloid tryptamine molecule, which share a common core structure, and consists of a bicylic indole heterocycle where is connected at the R3 point to the amino group via an ethyl side chain and substituted at the R4 point of the indole heterocycle AcO, by the functional group CH3COO, and contains ethyl chains which are connected to the amine RN by its MET base.

Pharmacology

The compound is a designer drug and its pharmacological and toxicological properties are not well understood and there is little data on its effects in humans. All of the information given about this substance comes from studies on rats.
4-AcO-MET is a partial agonist of the 5-HT2A receptor, which explains its psychedelic effects.
This preparte can cause various effects depending on the dosage, such as sedation, stimulation, euphoria, increased visual acuity, and hallucinations.
Typical side effects include dilated pupils, nausea, nausea, salivation, watery eyes, teeth grinding.

Tolerance to the effects of the substance is formed almost immediately after ingestion, so it takes 7 days to return to baseline.
